An increasing number of firms expect their use of business data to grow over the coming year, new research predicts.
According to a study conducted by Kognito, two-thirds of respondents expect business intelligence delivered on an as-needed basis to continue to grow in 2010.
Half (49 per cent) of respondents said business intelligence is becoming more appreciated as a strategic tool at their companies, while almost a third (31 per cent) plan to invest in new business data tools.
Meanwhile, less than ten per cent of survey respondents said they believe outsourced business data will not grow in popularity this year.
John K Thompson, chief executive of Kognito, said: "In this economy, companies want to be able to quantify their efforts and see tangible results from everything they do.
"That clearly extends to the use of business intelligence, which has been a 'money pit' for too many firms for far too long."
He added that services such as Data as a Service can also produce the effective results that businesses need.
