Affiliate marketing is the most cost effective means of driving customer acquisition, according to a recent survey by E-consultancy.

The research shows that a unanimous 99 per cent of brands believe that affiliate marketing is either ‘very cost effective’ or ‘quite cost effective’.

Almost half the respondents described affiliate marketing as ‘very cost effective, compared to 34 per cent who favoured paid search and seven per cent for display advertising.

The research, sponsored by, also showed that brands are spending an average of ten per cent of their overall marketing budget on affiliate marketing which delivers an average of 16 per cent of their online sales.

Linus Gregoriadis, head of research at E-consultancy, told Precision Marketing: “The merits of affiliate marketing are increasingly being recognised.

“We will see continued growth from this channel as it becomes more strategically important for merchants. Almost 80 per cent of brands say they are expecting to invest more in this channel”, he added.
