The inserts industry should place greater emphasis on responding to consumer preferences and utilising the new marketing potential, according to the Lateral Group.

Peter Simpson, chairman of the Lateral Group and ex-commercial director of First Direct, will give his thoughts on the future of the industry to an assembly of marketing professionals.

As keynote speaker at the forthcoming Direct Marketing Association’s (DMA) Future of Inserts conference, he will explain why, instead of fighting battles on all fronts, the integration of online is critical to the future of inserts.

Mr Simpson will be joined by a host of high-profile speakers who will offer insights into both online and offline direct marketing, legislative changes, targeting techniques and new environmental approaches to marketing.

Jo Garcia, chair of the DMA Inserts Council, said: “The inserts industry is facing some key opportunities and real challenges. This conference aims to address those and map out the future of insert marketing.”
