An increasing number of businesses are coming to the realisation that they need to market themselves online whether they like it or not, according to SEO Junkies.

The search engine optimisation company said well-established companies are beginning to realise the inevitability of changing with the times and going online to attract new, younger, fresh customers and sales leads.

“Social media, video, interaction – they have to change with the times, they have to diversify,” said Di Forster, director of SEO Junkies.

Speaking at the Internet World digital marketing conference, she explained that the onus is on the younger generation of marketing professionals to convince those at senior levels to spend their budgets online rather than on more traditional marketing platforms.

Tim Gibbon, editor and co-founder of the Social Media Portal, recently said that online social media platforms are becoming an increasingly popular form of multichannel marketing to capture sales leads.
