Telemarketers who work from home can provide valuable resources to companies, but the skills needed in such an employee need to be highlighted, according to an expert.
Lifestyle guru Linda Davis states that many people choose to work from home for family or other reasons, but the discipline, communication and team-working skills necessary for office work still need to be present.
Knowledge about the firm, its product and services are just as important in homeworkers as in office staff, while communication, cold-calling, order taking and customer service are also needed.
Ms Davis, writing for bestsyndication.com, adds that there are many disreputable firms advertising supposed homeworking opportunities, but often just end up pushing bad products or even scams. This makes it important to highlight the legitimacy of the products and services being offered.
“Despite the relaxed environment available when working from home, it is necessary to possess and maintain discipline as well as all the skills needed for the job,” adds Ms Davis.
“Aside from possessing all those qualities and skills, flexibility must be considered when pursuing a work from home job,” she continues, saying that staff must be aware of the need to adapt.
