The Institute of Direct Marketing (IDM) has announced a raft of new initiatives to coincide with its 20th anniversary celebrations.

Launching the celebrations with a new mini-site which will be dedicated to promoting the various events that will be taking place from September 2006, the IDM stated that it is looking to “thank the hundreds of practitioners who have helped shape the profession”.

One of the highlights of the new schedule of events will be its annual lunch, with guest speaker Martin Sorrel, chief executive of WPP Group.

There is also to be a Graduates Reunited event which will bring together old classmates among the 7,000 people who have graduated in the past 20 years.

Professor Derek Holder, IDM managing director, commented: “It’s a great opportunity for us and all the practitioners who have supported and helped the IDM to reflect back on the past 20 years, and to be honest, to recognise the great achievements and advances that have been made in our discipline.”

The IDM was launched 20 years ago this September by Professor Holder and Caroline Owen-Jones and has grown into one of the most influential bodies in the direct marketing sector.ADNFCR-8000151-ID-17604844-ADNFCR
