ING Direct has appointed a new marketing agency responsible for its £4 million account.

The online savings bank selected marketing agency Geronimo to take on the account following a pitching process handled by AAR.

Unsuccessful agencies included Targetbase Claydon Heeley and Archibald Ingall Stretton.

Offline communications are expected to makeup a significant part of the campaign, which will be launched in the New Year.

The agency’s communications will be centred around improving the bank’s current Feel Good campaign.

ING Direct is particularly keen to raise its profile in the UK with the campaign.

Jenny Cooper, Head of Customer Marketing at ING Direct added: “Geronimo clearly demonstrated an understanding of our brand, customers and market.

“We needed an agency which leads with strategic thinking, experience and creativity and we are confident we’ve found the right partner.”

The Dutch financial services company began the review of its account in September.

ING Direct recently reached acquired Share Builder, an online brokerage company based in the US.

Geronimo recently launched a new brand awareness campaign for new air freshener Ambi Pur Puresse with the tagline “Let us take care of your air”.
