Businesses looking to get the most out of their business lists through an email marketing campaign have been urged to consider a loyalty programme.

Author and marketing expert, Steve Cone, has highlighted a strategy which reminds targets how long they have been a customer and thanks them on reaching certain milestones.

Speaking to BtoB magazine, the man who penned ‘Steal These Ideas: Marketing Secrets that Will Make You A Star’, also put forward a scheme which gives reductions according to sales volumes.

On different forms a loyalty programme can take, Mr Cone commented: “Volume discounts is [one means to do this], but also just plain recognition, which goes a long way, in reminding people that they’ve been your customer for so many years and thanking them for that.”

Adding: “I guarantee you that if you’re doing that, the other companies aren’t.”

Another email marketing tip was recently given by Carmen Curran of DMNews, who advised that recipients are more likely to read mail from a source they are familiar with.

For this reason, she recommended communicating with previously-uncontacted customers through a trusted source via an affiliation agreement with business partners.ADNFCR-8000151-ID-19032665-ADNFCR
