B2B marketers should ensure they maintain the copywriting quality of their communications, an expert has advised.

Social media consultant Mack Collier said marketers should monitor the most popular blogs on the internet to get a feel for how different content is positioned.

Writing on Marketing Profs, he explained that marketers should be able to judge the writing styles and tactics used by these blogs and apply those methods to their own content.

Mr Collier suggested that one way marketers can keep up with their competitors is by maintaining up-to-date news on their websites.

“Having access to multiple news sources covering a particular industry means you’ll have exposure to what’s happening in many companies in each industry,” he said.

“If your competitors are blogging, you can track their blogs to see the effects of their efforts.”

Mr Collier’s comments were echoed by Donna Bletzinger, president of marketing consulting firm Dyer Stephenson, who recently urged marketers to conduct in-depth assessments of their rivals so they can stay ahead of the game.
