Marketers are increasingly using social media platforms to attract email leads, a new survey shows.

According to a report conducted by SocialMediaExaminer, nine in ten (91 per cent of) marketers are currently using social media platforms as part of their campaign strategies, with small businesses more likely to capitalise on the medium.

The 2010 Social Media Marketing Industry Report found that around two-thirds (65 per cent) of marketers have only just jumped on the social media bandwagon, while one third (31 per cent) have been using the medium for a few years.

Over three-quarters (79 per cent) of B2B companies said they have been using social media for a period of months or more, compared to 68.7 per cent of B2C firms.

Over half (56 per cent) of marketers said they use social media for six hours or more a week, while 30 per cent use it for 11 hours or more on a weekly basis.
