A survey has been gathering statistics on the prominence of online marketing among higher education institutions (HEIs) in the UK, according to The ClickZ Network.
Attendants at the eduWeb Conference, the majority of whom were marketing professionals at HEIs, completed a survey to show the extent to which their institution engages with digital marketing.
Around 90 per cent of respondents said they had utilised email
Over three quarters said that they plan to market using social media within the next year.
Another finding was that many potential students had not been reached through search engine optimisation, since 34.5 percent of HEIs who polled their students online found prospective students had typed the university web address directly into their URL.
The majority of HEIs were found to be in the habit of targeting their efforts towards undergraduates.
More than 45 per cent said that the biggest inhibitor when it came to the online marketing activities was cost.
