Online marketing strategies can help relatively small firms target businesses in a way that wasn’t available before the advent of the internet, one expert has suggested.

Tink Taylor, business development director at online marketing agency dotMailer, has highlighted the different avenues now available to organisations seeking to promote their brands online.

Mr Taylor highlighted viral marketing as one such method that the web has given rise to, allowing the quick, effective spread of a marketing message through spontaneous mailing campaigns.

“The growth of social media also allows businesses to build their brands and develop market-share in ways that just aren’t possible or effective offline.”

According to a report from the Internet Advertising Bureau, after online advertising, cinema advertising recorded the next best level of growth over the first six months of 2008 in the UK.
