New technologies are helping firms convert leads into sales and earn more business, a new survey has found.

According to the 2009 Business Pulse report from BT, almost one in three (30 per cent) respondents said they are winning and retaining more business through the use of technology.

The majority of businesses questioned said faster broadband speeds have had a positive effect on their operations.

Over two-thirds (68 per cent) of respondents said they have already seen a range of benefits from using broadband technology. Furthermore, professionals in the IT, telecoms and media sectors revealed that they expect to upgrade other technologies they use.

A significant proportion of firms questioned said they believe technology helps them improve efficiency and mitigate the impact of the recession more effectively.

Overall, nearly three-quarters (73 per cent) of firms said websites are important, with a further 40 per cent stating e-commerce activities are crucial.

A recent study from Silverpop found that four in ten marketers plan to increase their email marketing budgets next year.
