Traditional methods can still be useful tools to a marketing strategy, even with the growing importance placed on online techniques, one marketing consultancy firm has suggested.

According to Brand New Way, small businesses are still finding direct mail, including press and leaflets, an effective way of contacting customers.

Peter Hawtin, Brand New Way director admitted that “there are many significant advantages of internet marketing for most companies.

He said: “Increasingly people are finding the benefits of online marketing; emails, newsletters and a tiny number are even more advanced [and are] looking at doing blogs.”

However, Mr Hawtin explained that essentially, strategy choice “really depends on the business”.

“The essence of marketing is delivering the right message to the right people in the right way,” he concluded.

Figures from the Direct Mail Information Service show direct mail accounts for 12.5 per cent of all advertising expenditure and generates over £27 billion worth of business every year.ADNFCR-8000151-ID-18266331-ADNFCR
